Fans of Carrie’s (and/or my work in the short form) may recognize from that description that the book is set in the same milieu as Carrie’s Hugo-nominated story, “Amaryllis,” which I originally published way back in issue #1 of Lightspeed, and also her story “Bannerless,” which appeared in my anthology, The End Has Come.
