Mother Succeeds Children

Fantasy author Dave Duncan, whose novel Mother of Lies concludes the duology that began with Children of Chaos, told SCI FI Wire that the books were inspired by the historical custom of an overlord’s taking his underlings’ children as hostages to ensure his good behavior.
